ARM - Associate Relationship Manager
Associate Relationship Manager (ARM)

🤝 Associate Relationship Manager (ARM)

The Associate Relationship Manager (ARM) is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with supplier associates on the OBAOL platform.

An ARM represents OBAOL while communicating with suppliers and ensures that suppliers remain active participants on the platform.

Unlike traditional sales roles, the ARM focuses on relationship ownership, supplier activation, and long-term trading engagement.

Each ARM manages a portfolio of supplier companies and ensures their products remain active and competitive in the marketplace.

🎯 Role Objective

The main objective of the ARM role is to:

  • Build strong relationships with supplier associates
  • Ensure supplier companies remain active on the platform
  • Encourage suppliers to list and maintain products
  • Maintain regular communication with suppliers
  • Support the creation of real trading opportunities

A strong supplier relationship often leads to:

  • More product listings
  • Faster responses to market enquiries
  • Buyers being referred directly by suppliers
  • Stronger long-term trade relationships

📌 Core Responsibilities

1. Supplier Relationship Management

ARM must maintain regular communication with suppliers.

This includes:

  • Calling suppliers regularly
  • Understanding supplier needs and concerns
  • Building long-term trust with associates
  • Acting as a representative of OBAOL in all communications

Important principle:

Conversations should not always focus on making products live.
Focus on building a genuine business relationship.

Suppliers should feel comfortable communicating with the ARM whenever needed.

2. Platform Activity Management

ARM must ensure that supplier products remain active on the platform.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring all supplier products are listed
  • Keeping product listings active
  • Updating product availability
  • Monitoring supplier responsiveness to enquiries
  • Encouraging suppliers to update their offerings

Example supplier portfolio:

10 supplier companies
5 products per company
Total products managed: 50

If trades occur involving these products, the ARM benefits from the commission system.

3. Supplier Activation

ARM should continuously encourage suppliers to remain active.

This includes encouraging suppliers to:

  • Add new products
  • Update product information
  • Adjust pricing when necessary
  • Respond quickly to enquiries
  • Participate actively in trading opportunities

The more active a supplier becomes, the more trade opportunities are created.

4. Market Communication

ARM acts as a communication bridge between the market and suppliers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Sharing market updates
  • Informing suppliers about demand trends
  • Communicating buyer requirements
  • Helping suppliers position products competitively

This communication helps suppliers stay aligned with real market demand.

🏢 Supplier Ownership System

Each ARM is assigned ownership of specific supplier companies.

Ownership means the ARM is responsible for:

  • Maintaining the supplier relationship
  • Managing supplier product listings
  • Ensuring supplier activity on the platform

The more suppliers an ARM manages, the larger their potential trading portfolio becomes.

Example portfolio:

Suppliers managed: 20
Products per supplier: 5
Total products under management: 100

More active suppliers create more opportunities for trading and commission.

⚡ Ownership Benefits

Supplier ownership creates long-term incentives.

If a trade occurs involving a supplier managed by the ARM:

  • The ARM receives their share from the commission pool
  • This applies even if another team member closes the deal

This system encourages ARMs to treat suppliers as long-term business assets.

⚠️ Ownership Accountability

Supplier ownership requires active management.

Ownership may be reviewed if the ARM fails to maintain expected responsibilities.

Situations that may trigger review include:

  • Lack of communication with suppliers
  • Inactivity in company coordination channels
  • Failure to maintain supplier product activity
  • Lack of engagement with assigned supplier companies

If such issues occur, the ARM may be asked to explain the situation.

If the explanation is not reasonable, ownership may be reassigned.

🔄 Ownership Transfer Rules

Supplier ownership may be transferred under certain conditions.

1. Employee Exit

If an ARM leaves the company:

  • All supplier ownership automatically transfers to another assigned ARM.

2. Supplier Inactivity Due to ARM

If suppliers remain inactive due to lack of ARM engagement:

  • The ownership may be placed under review
  • Management may reassign the supplier to another ARM.

This ensures suppliers always receive active support from the OBAOL team.

📈 ARM Success Formula

Successful ARMs focus on three key areas:

Relationship Building

Develop strong and trusted relationships with supplier associates.

Supplier Activation

Ensure supplier products remain active and competitive.

Market Awareness

Stay connected with suppliers and share relevant market insights.

⭐ Key Principle

The ARM role is not just about communication.

It is about supplier portfolio ownership.

Every supplier relationship is treated as a long-term trading asset that benefits both:

  • The ARM
  • The OBAOL platform
